Have you ever known a stinker? Someone who smells as ripe as the cheese you ate in France? Someone who could use a little hygienic encouragement? Well we have! We have come up with our Top 10 List of ways to let them know that they need to shower.
Number 10: Spray them with every perfume tester you see!
Number 9: Take them through the Auto car Wash and push them out of the car!
Number 8: Give them gifts of scented bath items... for no special occasion whatsoever!
Number 7: Take them to lunch with a friend who is in cahoots. Accidentally spill your water on them, and when they look down, have your friend attack them with a soapy sponge!
Number 6: Put sweet smelling scratch and sniff stickers all over them when they think you are giving them a makeover!
Honey don't scratch, it's just your new makeup! Number 5: Whenever you are near a pool, "accidentally" push them in! Yes, all of them if they stink!
Number 4: Make a necklace for them out of car tree air fresheners! Convince them it is the newest fashion craze!
Number 3: Make a plan of attack with your other friend again. Get a bottle of dish soap and a Super Soaker. One of you sprays, one of you squirts soap, then you both attack with scrub brushes and clean her up!
Not just for child's play! See even the dog thinks she stinks! Number 2: Insist on Febreezing your house every time they come over, and "accidentally" spray them!
Number 1: Set a tiny fire, and when the fire department comes to put it out, "accidentally" push them in front of the hoses!
If any of these things have ever been done to you.... then by all means... SOAP AND WATER DO NOT COST VERY MUCH!!!!
XOXO Kristina
PS. We love you anyway, even if you do stink! PPS. Amanda does not stink. PPPS. Much. PPPPS. Just kidding. She has a real complex about stinking, so she, her husband and kids, and her house always smell fresh and yummy. She DID pay me to say this however! :)
I always struggle on where to post my personal blogs. I wonder if I should post them in here or in my Irish Goddess one but as I thought about this post I realized I am obviously not the only mother out there and I think that all mother’s can appreciate this poem I found.
I went looking for poems because I was sitting here thinking of how my oldest son will be starting middle school tomorrow and how on earth could 12 years have passed already. We went to his back to school night tonight so he could meet his teacher and find his locker and well of course learn to open it. He did a great job by the way, anyway the teachers were talking to all the students about not giving out their locker combination to anyone but their parents because every year some boy gives it to a cute girl and a month later they break up and she is dating a different boy and well you can guess what happens. It was a cute story but all of a sudden it hit me that he would soon be asking to date and go to dances. He is 6 years away from being 18 years old and it seems like yesterday I was laughing at his little facial expressions and how he couldn’t say the letter K. Now I think he is actually smarter than me and of course cuter. Even now I sit here looking at his new school picture and next to it is one of him when he was two holding a football. I watch him grow daily into this man who reminds me so much of his father but with a little sass like his mom and pray to God that I am doing a good job. I am sure I am not the only mom who has ever felt this way and so in my search tonight I found this and I think it speaks from the heart.
Lots of love!

Happy Monday everyone, if you’re as busy as we are right now you will need some quick and easy dinners. We have our kids starting back in school and things are very hectic. We have come up with some easy cook and go recipes to help you out.
CHICKEN CHILI This hearty chili is tempered by the surprising addition of apple cider, which makes it a very kid-friendly dinner. It's mom-friendly too, because it utilizes a rotisserie chicken, and comes together quickly. I always like to top mine with sliced jalapeno peppers and cilantro to give it an extra kick, but the kids like it topped with lots of grated cheese and sour cream. Serve with a salad and warm corn muffins.
Ingredients - 1 rotisserie chicken, skin and bones removed and meat shredded
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 whole onion, chopped
- 1 yellow or red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 4 cloves garlic,, finely diced
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 small can diced green chiles
- 1 (fourteen-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 2 cups apple cider
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 2 cans white beans,, rinsed
- salt and pepper
- grated cheese, sour cream, sliced onions, sliced jalapenos for topping
Directions
- Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven or stockpot over medium-low heat.
- Add onion and bell pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until veggies are tender, about 10 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for one minute more. Add chili powder, oregano and bay leaves and stir to combine.
- Add diced green chiles, diced tomatoes, apple cider, chicken broth and shredded chicken. Raise heat and bring to a boil.
- Cover partially, reduce heat, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Add beans and simmer for five minutes more or until heated through. Taste for seasoning and add salt and pepper if necessary.
- Ladle into bowls and top with desired ingredients.
CHICKEN TACOS What family doesn't love tacos, and what mom doesn't love a good slow cooker recipe? This recipe is the best of both, and as a bonus, calls for less expensive chicken thighs that can withstand hours of slow cooking without losing their texture.
IngredientsC - 1 can Green chiles,, diced
- 1 jar salsa, (about 12 ounces; mild or spicy to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
- 1 whole onion, chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
Directions - Place chicken in the bowl of a slow cooker. Top with salsa, diced green chiles, cumin, onion and garlic. Cover and set on low. Cook for 8 hours.
- Remove chicken from pot, shred, and return to juices.
- Spoon chicken into taco shells, with whatever toppings your family likes. Or use the meat to make burritos, tostadas or as a filling for enchiladas.
ASIAN BEEF with MANDARIN ORANGES The beauty of slow cookers is that they enable you to spend only a few minutes of prep to get a full meal that tastes great. Drop this recipe in before you head off to work, and when you get home, you'll have the most tender meat and tasty veggies.
Hands-On Time: 25 minutes Ready In: 10 hours (LOW) or 5 to 6 hours (HIGH) Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 pounds boneless beef chuck, cut into 1⁄2-inch strips 1 small onion, thinly sliced 1⁄3 cup soy sauce 1⁄4 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger 1 small green bell pepper, sliced 1 package (about 3 ounces) shiitake mushrooms, sliced 1 head bok choy, cleaned and chopped 1 can (5 ounces) sliced water chestnuts, drained 2 tablespoons corn starch 1 can (11 ounces) mandarin oranges, drained and syrup reserved 2 cups beef broth 6 cups steamed rice
Directions

- Add onion to same skillet. Stir over medium heat until softened. Add next soy sauce, salt, ginger, green pepper, mushrooms, bok choy and water chestnuts and cook until bok choy is wilted, about 5 minutes. Spoon mixture over beef.
- Whisk together corn starch and reserved mandarin orange syrup in medium bowl. Stir in beef broth and pour over ingredients in CROCK-POT® slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW 10 hours or on HIGH 5 to 6 hours or until beef is tender.
- Stir in mandarin oranges. Spoon steamed rice into shallow serving bowl and spoon beef over rice.
Happy Sacred Sunday everyone, I have thought long and hard on what to write about on this sacred Sunday. Kristina suggested I write about what is sacred to me but I today I didn’t feel like I was being drawn to write about that and as part of my beliefs I don’t go where I am told I go where I am drawn to go. On that note this Sunday I want to write about God.
I have always believed in God and never questioned if there was a God. I have question lots of things in my life but always knew that there was a higher power way greater then me. I didn’t grow up in a family that was dedicated to going to church every Sunday or having any real beliefs. I was always told what to believe and I did. Why? I don’t really know maybe it was just easier that way.
One day about 6 or 7 years ago my step mom June asked me to come to church with her and listen to her sing a special song. I went and I took with Lisa with me. Lisa is Kristina little sister who is a Christian and at the time Kristina was still Mormon so she was at her own church function. Anyway Lisa and I went and June sang this song I had never heard before called, When God Ran and it was the most beautiful song I had ever heard that I literally cried through the whole thing. Now if you ever get the chance to hear my step mom sing you will cry to because she has such a beautiful voice and I remember growing up listing to her sing all the time and it one of the best sounds in the world. Unfortunately I do not have a tape of her singing the song but I have copied the lyrics down for you and attached a video so you can hear it yourself. June changed the word son to child. I like it that way.
Lots of love!

June, Me and Kristina Almighty God, the great I am Immovable rock, omnipotent, powerful, awesome Lord Victorious warrior, commanding King of Kings Mighty conqueror, and the only time the only time I ever saw Him run
CHORUS: Was when He ran to me, He took me in His arms Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again” Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes With forgiveness in His voice He said, “Son do you know I still love you?” He caught me by surprise when God ran
The day I left home I knew I’d broken His heart And I wondered then if things could ever be the same Then one night I remembered His love for me And down that dusty road ahead I could see It was the only time – it was the only time I ever saw Him run
And then He ran to me, He took me in His arms Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again” Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes With forgiveness in His voice He said, “Son do you know I still love you?” He caught me by surprise as He brought me to my knees When God ran – I saw Him run to me
BRIDGE: I was so ashamed, all alone and so far away But now I know He’s been waiting for this day
I saw Him run to me, He took me in His arms Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again” Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes With forgiveness in His voice I felt His love for me again
He ran to me, He took me in His arms Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again” Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes With forgiveness in His voice He said, “Son”, He called me Son He said, “Son do you know I still love you?” He ran to me and then I ran to Him When God ran

Don’t forget to come back often as we are updating with all new fabulous thing that you don’t want to miss
As you know that every Friday we write about something fabulous. It could be a song or a person, or even a great book. This week however I had to write about someone who is super fabulous to both Kristina and myself. Her name is Sheryl, and we actually met her years ago but it wasn’t until this last year that we realized how fabulous she really is.
I can not tell you just how great she is… Oh wait… Yes I can
Sheryl is the woman who everyone wants to be. She is smart and funny and has the most beautiful personality you will ever find. She is an awesome mother, fiancé and friend.
A few examples for would be right after I bought my new house all of my cleaning supplies accidentally got left at my old house and we were broke with all the housing cost and Sheryl let me come over and raid her supply closet. Everything was brand new, top of the line products and she gave me tons and didn’t charge me anything. Another time Kristina found out that her ex-boyfriend gave her some Wiccan book that he supposedly got for her and she came to find out that he had stolen them from Sheryl. Kristina of course was horrified and gave the books back with a huge apology and Sheryl smiled at her and said thanks and then loaned her some different books.
She is a great friend who throws barbecues for us and watches our kids when we need. There need to be a lot more Sheryl’s in the world.
Sheryl also has a fabulous blog that you should all go check out. http://sheryl1lyn.blogspot.com/ Lots of love!

Don’t forget to come back often as we are updating with all new fabulous thing that you don’t want to miss THE ONLY TIME I HAD A PROBLEM WITH SHERYL WAS WHEN SHE TRIED TO TAKE MY BOYFRIEND I GOT HER SO DONT WORRY LOL
We really wanted to capture the essence of what it would look like if you did this to people. Instead of scaring people on the street since we only do that sometimes. LOL Thanks to some good friends who came to help and one unsuspecting girl who will never be the same after meeting us we got some great pictures. Top Ten things NOT to do when you are introduced to someone new This is our good friend Nichol who volunteered to help us with our post 10. Asking them to look at a sore is "Gross" even if they are a doctor 9. Yell in their face “How the Hell are ya?” This may scare them This is the poor unsuspecting girl who stopped by my house This is actually our tattoo man TATTER TOT 8. Spit shake with them
7. Slap their ass 6. Assume they are a stripper and putting a dollar bill in their shirt 5. Assume they know the secret hand shake 4. Ask them for money or try and take their money 3. Lick their cheek 2. Pantsing them 1. The number one thing you should never do when you first meet someone is bump and grind. When we had an unexpected visitor Tatter Tot thought he would do the real thing LOL Sorry its blurry I was laughing so hard
As we prepare for our kids to head back to school and fall arrives... we seem to miss out on the end of the Summer... and mourn it later! I wanted to find some fun recipes to share to get a last hurrah from Summer... and some fun funky things your kids might like as after school snacks as well!
Rocket Dogs
Ingredients - hot dogs
- prepared breadstick dough (like Pillsbury brand)
- skewers
- cubed cheese
- mustard
Instructions - Simply wrap hot dogs in prepared breadstick dough (we used Pillsbury brand) and insert a skewer, letting it protrude at the top.
- Bake the dogs according to the dough package's instructions. Add a triangle of cheese for a topper, tie on a tail made from ribbon or aluminum foil, and squirt on stripes of ketchup and mustard.
Fancy Fruit
Ingredients - Any kind of fruit of relatively the same size
- OPTIONS
- Apples
- Pears
- Oranges
Instructions - Slice two pieces of fruit that are relatively the same size and alternately stack the pieces, as shown
Sandy Shells and Pearls
Ingredients - pasta shells
- frozen peas
- butter
- grated Parmesan
- canape shells
- panko bread crumbs
Instructions - To make this simple dish, toss cooked pasta shells with cooked frozen peas, butter, and grated Parmesan.
- Spoon the mixture into canape shells (we found ours at kitchencollection.com) and top with panko bread crumbs that have been toasted under the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes.
Crabby Crabwich
Ingredients - 1 croissant
- Sandwich filling*
- 6 baby carrots
- 2 toothpicks
- 1 black olive
- 2 cream cheese balls (1/2-inch)
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 radish
Instructions - Slit open the outside edge of a croissant, as shown, and stuff it with sandwich filling.*
- Tuck six baby carrots into the sides to form legs.
- Slide two 1/2-inch balls of cream cheese onto toothpicks, top each with a black olive slice, and stick them in place as shown.
- Snip off the tips of the croissant and slide a red bell pepper claw into each end.
- Finish the crab by attaching a radish slice smile with a dab of cream cheese.
Tips: I used crab salad in our sandwich, but chicken or tuna salad, ham and cheese, and PB&J also make delicious fillers.
And last but not least, a special treat for the Mommies and Daddies out there! Guacamole Potato Salad
Ingredients - 3 pounds red potatoes
- 2 tablespoons plus 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 ripe avocado, peeled
- 2 teaspoons grated lime zest
- Juice of 2 limes (about 1/2 cup)
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
Instructions - In a large pot, cover the potatoes with cold water. Add the 2 tablespoons of salt and bring the potatoes to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes or until you can pierce them easily with a paring knife. Drain them in a colander and allow to cool.
- Meanwhile, puree the avocado, lime zest and juice, garlic, cilantro, mayonnaise, and remaining salt in a food processor until smooth. If the dressing seems too thick, add a tablespoon or so of hot water.
- Cut the potatoes into bite-size chunks (leave the skins on) and place them in a large bowl with the celery. Scrape in the dressing with a rubber spatula and gently stir it all together. Serve immediately, or cover and chill. Serves 8 to 10.
