Many years ago I was driving home. Now to start out let me tell you that Kristina and I both grew up in a small town. A small farm town no less, so it was never a surprise to see a cow crossing the road, or to have a dear run into the side of your car. However there were even times we could be surprised.

It was a nice sunny day in March a few years back and like I said I was driving home along this long stretch of road that leads to everything in this town. When out of the corner of my eye I see a turkey on the side of the road. Not a live turkey or even a dead turkey but a frozen turkey with no wrapper. I immediately picked up my cell phone and called Kristina and said “You won’t believe what I just saw on the side of the road?” Her answer was shocking as she said “A Turkey” I couldn’t believe it and then she exclaimed to me that she saw it her self the day before. We laughed about this for a while thinking it was funny and then moved on. A week later we were together driving down the same road and lo and behold the same turkey was there. I assume this was the same turkey but I didn’t ask so it could have been new. Anyway we laughed some more and took a picture of the turkey. This turkey sat there for about 2 months and then one day it was gone. I guess someone finally came back for their dinner.

Picture
I often wondered about how this turkey could have ended up there and with my wide imagination I believe I figured it out.

One day the handsome turkey is walking by the road on his way to a friend’s house. When out of no where a man in a super fast car drives by. The car comes to a screeching halt because the man had never seen such a handsome turkey before. He gets out and deciding he wants to take a feather back to his girlfriend because the turkey is so handsome he begins to pluck a few feathers. Tom the turkey gets very mad about this and tries to stop the man. The man leaves but of course tells all his friends about the handsome turkey and before long people are stopping to pluck feathers left and right. Poor tom eventually becomes bald and decided he wants revenge on the feather stealer so he makes a plan to attack the next person who drives by. He crouches and waits and then he see’s the headlights he sits very still in the middle of the road and then everything goes silent. He wonders where the car went and sticks his head up for a peak and then the car rips his head off. The cow wondering by feels bad and he sticks tom on the side of the road for all too admire.

No Animals were actually hurt during this story.

Lots of love!

I was sitting around today talking to Kristina and all of sudden I remembered a time when I was a high school cheerleader and I got reprimanded for doing a cheer in an inappropriate matter. I know crazy huh? To think I could ever do anything inappropriate??!!??

Picture
Anyway we had just learned a new cheer called “Set the Pace” and it had this really cool move at the end of it where we would swing our hips out and our arms down by them and make this cute little move. I have posted a video below showing what the cheer is supposed to look like. We did it just like that but instead of our arms up by our shoulders they were down by our hips.
You get the idea.  However I got so into this cheer that when the end of it came I rocked my hips a little provocatively and they wouldn’t allow us to do that cheer anymore! Apparently I did not give off a very good impression as a cheerleader/role model should. I didn’t realize I was doing anything wrong I was just getting into it, but you would have thought I came to the game looking like this…..

Picture
There really is no point to this story except at 16 I thought I was totally in the right but I bet at 30 if I saw a 16 year old do this I would probably be like “Look at that little slut” LOL Good Times

Lots of love!

I remember the day I met Kristina. I would love to tell you about how awesome and cool I was as I strolled into practice for cheer leading tryouts but that would be a lie. Here is what really happened. The year was 1995 and I have recently moved to a small town to live with my mom, and I mean small town. Population 1900 people, no malls or stores to speak of and I was very nervous. I was about to start my freshman year of high school and I wanted to try out for football cheer leading. There I was at the first practice and I didn’t know anyone. To top it off no one said anything to me so I signed up got a paper with the cheers to learn and was off on my way. I was waiting for one of our farm workers to pick me up and as we drove out of the parking lot I saw a blond haired girl smile and wave at me. I was so shocked and happy. To make a long story short I made the cheer leading squad and didn’t see this girl again until a week before school started. I was at a fundraiser for basketball cheer leading and there she was. I was so excited to see her again and find out her name. She saw me and instantly smiled and said “How are you?” I smiled and started talking and I said “I am so sorry but I can’t remember your name.” She smiled and said oh it’s Krimoomhaha. I swear that is what I heard her say. I had no idea how to ask her again so I figured I would ask someone else later. Honestly I was really freaked out because she had a wondering eye and one of her eyes was looking at me and the other was looking at something way behind me.

Picture
A week later we started school and when I went into my 4th period class there she was sitting and smiling. When she saw me she was like “Come sit by me” and so I did almost knocking down a student in the process with my backpack. She called me by name so I could not tell her I didn’t know her name. I figured I would play it by ear since someone would have to say her name eventually. Then in came the teacher from Hell who figured that even high school student should have assigned seats. She looked at me and said “Hey what is your last name?” I said “Graham” and she was so excited. She said “oh good mine is hunt so maybe we will get placed by each other.” I figured well I know part of her name now lol. Then it happened the teacher said Kristina Hunt and she got up and went to sit in her assigned seat. We didn’t end up sitting next to each other then but it was the start of a great friendship.

Picture
The reason I am telling you this story is a lot of times in life if something in uncomfortable we don’t bother to find out anymore about it. Lets say if this were to happen now at the age of 30 I would either have moved on figuring I didn’t have the time to know this weird eye person or I would be like “Shit what in the hell is your name?” Both of these I would imagine would not become long lasting friendships so next time you come on to something that makes you uncomfortable sit back and think what would the 15 year old in me do right now? You might surprise yourself.

A few months back, the two of us, and our two very awesome friends Barbie and Sheryl went on a little road trip to Forks, WA. Yup, that's right. We are Twi-hards. Or Twi-dorks. Or grown women obsessed with sparkly vampires.  Yes, we own it all! We had a wonderful time bonding, and seeing the sights. We all loved the beach at La Push and took way way too many pictures!  We will many of our pictures in time, but there are a few I really want to share today!

At every shop in Forks, they have Twilight memorabilia everywhere and often some cardboard cutouts of the cast.  At the Forks Visitors Center we actually got to "borrow" Edward and take him out to play a little!  That was some of the most fun we had on the trip!

Hello everyone I have been thinking over the last few days about blogging and what I wanted to blog about. I have tons of extremely funny things to talk about or at least things I find funny. However I am a regular person just like everyone else. This means that sometimes I am sad, happy, scared, depressed, silly and more. I try to be that person who looks at life like the glass is half full but sometimes the damn glass is almost empty.

Picture
Today I had a very interesting conversation with my friends Kristina and Nichol about how I sometimes feel like a bad mom. I feel like I can’t buy the things for my children like they need. I have 4 kids and that can get really expensive and clothes cost tons. Now for starters let me tell you that I am a bargain shopper. I don’t mind yard sales and hand me down but let’s face it with six people to buy for money can get extremely tight. Plus we have always been the type to lend a helping hand, for instance some goods friends of ours were in a bad situation and needed a place to stay so we let them move in for a while. Now we have 9 people living here, and Kristina and her son come over all the time because we love hanging out together and we have a blast however that makes 11. THEN to top it off our friends who are staying with us are babysitting 2 little girls on a daily basis for about 8 hours. This means that on any given day we are making and preparing food for 13 people. We are used to barbecues, family get together and birthday parties where we cook for lots of people but not on a daily basis. This means that by the end of the day I tend to get a little stressed out. Most of the time I can handle it all pretty well and laid back about it but there are some days when I come home and I want to hide in my room all alone and just have 3 minutes of ALONE TIME.

Picture
Anyway with all of my craziness lately I have really noticed a difference in my life, body, and mind. I don’t feel like I have time to focus on what matters not that I can sort through everything to know what really matters. I am constantly late to work and I am afraid I will get fired which will not help the situation. I have gained weight and I am constantly tired. I am confused with what to do. I think a lot about my sacred place but I can’t always find my sacred place. I admire all these women that I have been reading their post and their sacred places and I envy them for that. Tomorrow is craft day with the kids and more working on the website to get it up by September 1st. I am looking forward to that. I hope you all have a fabulous night.

Lots of love!

We have been doing a series of posts where we ask our guest bloggers to tell us about their sacred places.  It is my turn to share with you about mine.

In order to tell you about it, I have to start a bit farther back in my spiritual journey.

I grew up LDS.* I am not a member of the church anymore, but it serves as a very important part in the development of who I am.  Growing up, the places that were holy, and required reverence were many. Churches, Sunday dinner, family occasions, and many more.  The places that were sacred, were not nearly as common.  The Temple is sacred.

Picture

There are 144 LDS Temples throughout the world. These are sacred places that members of the church go to, regularly if possible, or as a pilgrimage much like Muslims going to Mecca.  These buildings are breathtakingly beautiful, and painstakingly built to exacting specifications, to represent the highest craftsmanship and honor of the LDS church.  It is a privilege to go into these temples, and a reverence of the highest degree is expected when you enter.
Upon leaving the LDS church, and finding a new path in the world, I found myself lacking in places that felt sacred to me.

But then I began to understand sacred to mean something totally different. Where before, sacred meant something I could rarely experience, and only in a specific place, I now know that I can find sacredness anyplace, at any time if I will only allow myself.

Sacred was a feeling of quiet reflection, lack of outside interference, and beautiful, rarely seen surroundings.  Sacred now is a feeling of love, happiness, peace, and a fullness in my heart.  The moments when I look at those I love are the most sacred ones to me.  The feelings that wash over me when I hold my son, or when I see my best friend's beautiful baby twins learning to stand and walk.  It is also the feeling of my breath being pulled from me, as if by the moon and the tides, when I look at the ocean.

The Ocean that takes my breath away
Just as these pictures were hard for me to pick from the hundreds I have saved, it is hard for me to pick out the moments in my life that are sacred. Because there are so many.  The feeling of sacredness, now, is a moment when I stop and step outside of what is ordinary, and experience the fullness of a moment. The fullness of my life.  When I look at those people and things that I love, and simply allow myself to feel that love.  That is my sacred place!
* I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone who is LDS, or to the LDS church. There are many wonderful things about the LDS religion, and many wonderful people who belong to it.  It simply isn't for me.  My personal experiences do not necessarily reflect the beliefs or intents of the LDS church as a whole. They simply represent my experience with it.

OK so Kristina has turned me on to one of the greatest sites around. When she first told me I could barely understand her she was laughing so hard. Then I went and checked it out and WHOA this woman is awesome.
